The District Chief Executive (DCE) , in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has donated relief items to residents affected by recent flooding in parts of the district.
The donation, which took place on 28th July 2026, followed a flooding incident on 19th June 2026 that displaced several families in Apagya and Afrancho, leaving them in need of urgent assistance.
Among the items presented to the affected families were mattresses, buckets, cups, plates, blankets, mosquito nets, cooking oil, rice, soap, and other essential household supplies.
Speaking during the presentation, the District Chief Executive expressed sympathy to the affected families and assured them of the Assembly’s continued commitment to supporting residents during difficult times. The victims were encouraged to remain hopeful and to take precautionary measures to minimise the impact of future flooding.
The NADMO representative also urged residents to avoid building on waterways and encouraged the public to keep drainage channels free from waste to help prevent flooding in their communities.
The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the District Assembly and NADMO for the timely intervention and relief items provided. They noted that the support would go a long way towards helping them recover from the effects of the floods.
