AFIGYA KWABRE SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY SUPPORTS PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs)

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South District, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah, presented support items and financial assistance to Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) at various platforms of community engagement with stakeholders within the electoral areas in the district. These community engagements happened between June and July, 2026

The presentation formed part of the District Assembly’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of Persons with Disabilities and promoting their economic empowerment.

In all, Seventy-three (73) beneficiaries received cash supports and other support items like Deep freezers with coolers, Business, Car Spraying machine, Industrial Sewing machine, Shop containers, Coloured Printer, Bale of Footwears, Fufu pounding machine, Flour confectionery, Trade Provisions while others were given cash support to take care of their medical & school bills as well as help expand their existing businesses to improve their sources of income.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah encouraged the beneficiaries to make good use of the support to improve their livelihoods and become more self-reliant. She reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to promoting the welfare and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities across the district.

The District Social Development Officer, Mr Cheslyn Nutsugah educated the audience on the services provided by the department, particularly on how Persons with Disabilities could access support from the Assembly. He also expressed concern over rising cases of juvenile delinquency among some youth within the District, especially at the Afrancho and Buoho communities and urged parents to closely monitor their children.

The beneficiaries expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the District Assembly for the support and pledged to use the items and financial assistance for their intended purposes.
