AFIGYA KWABRE SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY HOLDS FIRST ORDINARY ASSEMBLY MEETING
The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly held its Assembly Meeting on 30th April 2026 at the Buoho Pentecost Church Auditorium. The meeting was attended by the District Chief Executive (DCE), the Presiding Member, Assembly Members, and staff of the Assembly.
In his address, the Presiding Member presented updates on ongoing development projects across the district. These included the construction of classroom blocks at Dumakyi, the establishment of a health centre at Ntiribuoho, and the mechanisation of boreholes in several communities. He also outlined planned projects such as the Bronkong Bridge, the Besease toilet facility, the Atimatim water supply project, and the Adumang CHPS compound. Additionally, he briefed members on the implementation of previous Assembly resolutions, highlighting progress in road reshaping, refuse evacuation, cemetery management, and support for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Addressing the Assembly, the District Chief Executive responded to concerns raised during previous meetings. She explained that although funds under the District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP) had not yet been released, the Assembly had taken proactive steps to reshape roads using its internally generated resources. She also provided updates on sanitation initiatives, the mechanisation of boreholes, and the Assembly’s monthly clean-up exercise aimed at improving environmental cleanliness.
The District Chief Executive further highlighted key achievements recorded by the Assembly, including improvements in administrative efficiency, the provision of free Wi-Fi at the Assembly, the supply of office furniture, the refurbishment of the Presiding Member’s office, support for educational infrastructure, youth skills development programmes, the distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers, and strengthened stakeholder engagement to enhance transparency and accountability. She also commended the Ghana Police Service for maintaining peace and security within the district and encouraged residents to patronise the Buoho Market to boost local economic activity.
The District Finance Officer briefed members on strategies to enhance revenue mobilisation and appealed to Assembly Members to support efforts to improve the collection of Internally Generated Funds (IGF) across the district.
The District Environmental Health Analyst also updated the Assembly on the ongoing door-to-door health screening exercise. He encouraged food vendors and business operators to actively participate in the programme while drawing attention to staffing challenges within the Environmental Health Unit that continue to affect service delivery.
The meeting ended with a renewed commitment by the Assembly to strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, improve service delivery, and accelerate socio-economic development across the Afigya Kwabre South District.
