NADMO INTENSIFIES PRE-FLOOD SENSITISATION IN FOUR COMMUNITIES

The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has intensified its efforts to reduce the impact of flooding by organizing a four-day pre-flood and flood sensitization campaign across selected communities in the District.

The awareness programme, held from 10th to 13th February 2026, reached residents of Aduamoa, Bronkon Market, Apagya, and Hemang. The initiative formed part of NADMO’s proactive measures to prepare communities ahead of the rainy season and strengthen public awareness on flood prevention.

During the sensitization sessions, officials educated residents on the importance of desilting choked gutters to ensure the free flow of water and prevent flooding. Community members were also cautioned against constructing buildings on waterways, a practice that contributes significantly to flood disasters and threatens lives and property.

NADMO encouraged residents to embrace good environmental sanitation practices and work collectively to keep drains free of waste. The Organization reiterated that preventing floods requires the active participation of communities, local authorities, and other stakeholders.

The exercise reflects NADMO’s continued commitment to promoting disaster preparedness and building resilient communities through sustained public education and awareness campaigns.
