Annual performance review is a vital tool for both employees and managers of the health service to ensure ongoing growth, alignment with health goals, and a productive work environment. It offers valuable insights into performance and development, helping both the employee and the health service to improve in the coming year. A tool called holistic assessment is used to assess the performance of both public health and clinical indicators which has further been segregated into three main objectives. This concept uses the concept of colour coding for scoring (deep green, light green, yellow, pink, and red). Performance of the year under review is compared to that of the previous year using a set target and P-T Gap as benchmark.
A peer-to-peer assessment were conducted prior to the performance, where Offinso North District Health Directorate assessed Afigya Kwabre South District by extracting data from District Health Information Management System 2 (DHIMS 2) and also inspecting relevant documents to ensure the data for assessment is accurate.
To reflect on the district’s health delivery performance, highlighting achievements, and identify areas that need to be improved. The organization of the program was to a perfect delivery of presentations, was precise and awe-inspiring. There were presentations by Offinso North District on the performance of Afigya Kwabre South District, the strength, weakness and the way forward. The district did exceptionally well by improving on most indicators as compared to 2023 performance.
In attendance were the District Coordinating Director and her deputies, Physician assistants, medical superintendents, facility heads from all facilities, both private and Public, staff from the various facilities, staff from Offinso North District Health Directorate, staff from Afigya Kwabre South District Health Directorate, Media General and many other stakeholders. Data issues, gaps and discrepancies were openly deliberated upon to solicit for ideas on how to rectify or improve them. All participants voiced their opinions on the good practices and strategies that need to be inculcated into the health system to ensure successful quality healthcare delivery.
The program was awe-inspiring, delivery of presentations, contributions and speeches were to a fault, which aroused an undeterred zeal in participants and stakeholders to collaboratively play their roles with diligence for the betterment of the district.
