The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly on Friday 22nd March 2024 inaugurated the Kwabre Manhyia Area Council at Atimatim Methodist Church. In attendance at the ceremony, we’re the District Chief executive Hon. Christian Adu-Poku, the District Coordinating Director Mad. Yvonne Naboo, Nananom within the Area Council, Honourable Assembly Members, unit committee members, Heads of Departments and a section of the staff of the District Assembly.
The program began with presentations from the Various Heads of Departments highlighting their roles in the District.
This was followed by swearing in of the unit committee members of the area which was led by the District Coordinating Director Mrs. Yvonne Naboo. The area council also consist of five Assembly Members from the five electoral areas, and ten unit committee members from each electoral area. Fifteen members of the area council were also sworn in and Mr. William Opoku Mensah was also elected as the Chairman for Kwabre Manhyia Area Council, who is also the Assemblyman for Old Atimatim. The District Coordinating Director also took them through the duties and obligations expected of them and admonished them to be very vigilant and accountable in all their dealings.
The DCE also starting his presentation advised the unit committee members and the Area Council to be devoted to their duty, he stated that if the Area Council were to be as vibrant and dedicated as they are supposed to be, Kwabre Manhyia would be better off than we see. He continued by saying that if the revenue items seeded to them were diligently collected and put to their rightful use, matters like street lights would not have to come to the Assembly. He urged the newly sworn-in council to be up and going to bring the area council to a better stand.
He then proceeded by showing the gathering of the developmental projects that have taken place in the district during his tenure of office.
The projects span school buildings, roads, bridges, school desks, police stations, Staff bungalows, support to Persons with Disabilities(PWDs) and others.
Bringing His presentation to an end he thanked Nananom and the people for their support and assured them that the assembly is ever ready to support them in their self-start projects. He then distributed streets to the various electoral areas and items such as hairdryers, chest freezers and money to some PWDs present.
