AFIGYA KWABRE SOUTH ELECTS PRESIDING MEMBER

The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly has successfully elected its presiding member.
The election took place on the 19th February 2024 at the District Education Conference Room, consisting of the majority of elected Assembly members.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. APC, acknowledged in his remarks that there were no outside influences and that the election was free and fair.
He asked the members of the Assembly to put the Assembly’s interests first and arrive on time for meetings.
Hon. Adu Poku Christian stated that it is regrettable that a small number of the new assembly constituted of few old members. Believing it demands urgent attention.
“I want to say that the election was free and fair and it means democracy has spoken. I will take this opportunity to call on the new crop of Assembly members to prioritize the interest of the Assembly ahead of their personal interest. They should be punctual and unified for the betterment of the assembly “, he stated.
In addition to thanking the Assembly members for their confidence in him to chair the assembly for a third term, the Presiding Member-elect, Hon. Clement Afriyie, focused on the several new subcommittees that will be established for submission and approval after the previous ones have been dissolved.
“The only committee I would find myself on is the Public Relation and Complaint Committee. I will request for the swift constitution of the various new subcommittees to streamline the process. I will plead with all the heads of the subcommittees to act quickly”, he reemphasized
The special meeting was attended by DCE. Hon Adu Poku Christian, DCD Mrs. Yvonne Naboo, Assembly Members and Officials from the electoral areas.
