The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly has donated 400 mono desks to selected schools in the district as part of efforts to address the persistent shortage of furniture and create a more conducive environment for teaching and learning. The desks were procured through the District Assemblies Common Fund and presented during a distribution exercise held at the District Assembly premises on Friday, August 14, 2026.
The donation represents the first batch of furniture support, with a second batch expected to arrive within the following weeks. Aduman Senior High School, identified as having a significant furniture need, received 200 desks, while the remaining 200 were distributed among selected basic schools across the district.
The Assembly has appealed to beneficiary schools to take proper care of the desks to ensure that they remain useful for both current and future students. Schools that were not included in the latest distribution were also assured that they would be considered in subsequent allocations, as the Assembly seeks to extend furniture support to more schools during the DCE’s four-year tenure.
The District Education Office welcomed the intervention, describing furniture shortages as one of the major challenges confronting schools. It pledged to monitor the desks through periodic and random inspections to ensure proper use, maintenance and preservation.
The initiative forms part of the Assembly’s broader commitment to improving educational infrastructure and supporting schools with the resources needed to provide a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning throughout the Afigya Kwabre South District.
