The District Chief Executive has cut the sod for the commencement of six development projects across five communities, assuring residents that all works will be completed without interruption within six months.
The projects, fully funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), are part of government’s flagship initiatives aimed at expanding access to education, healthcare, water, and sanitation, particularly in deprived communities.
The projects include a two-unit kindergarten block at Kyerase; a health centre at Ntiribuoho; a 20-seater toilet facility at Heman; a CHPS compound and a three-unit classroom block at Dumakyi; and a six-unit classroom block at Wawaase Akwaasu.
Speaking after the sod-cutting ceremony at Dumakyi, Madam Ankrah explained that the selection of beneficiary communities was deliberate, underscoring the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive development and ensuring that no community is left behind.
She noted that some of the beneficiary communities are located more than eight kilometres from the district capital and serve populations of over 800 people, with surrounding settlements increasing the total beneficiary population to nearly 3,000 residents.
“These are all Ghanaians. They voted, and they deserve development. That is why we are bringing these projects to them,” she stated.
Beyond the six physical projects, the DCE revealed that the Assembly is also implementing a district-wide water supply intervention involving the construction of 30 mechanised boreholes and 10 hand-pump boreholes to improve access to potable water.
Madam Ankrah indicated that all projects had commenced simultaneously and would be completed and commissioned within six months, as funding had already been secured under the DACF.
“These are Common Fund projects, and the funds are available. When I say six months, I mean six months. We will come back to commission them,” she assured.
She urged contractors to adhere strictly to project timelines and quality standards, while appealing to community members to cooperate with the Assembly and contractors to ensure smooth implementation.
Madam Ankrah reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to prioritising deprived communities in its development agenda to bridge infrastructural gaps and improve living standards across the district.
