The District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah, commissioned a modern 10-seater toilet facility at Afrancho D/A Primary School, marking a significant stride toward improving sanitation and educational infrastructure in the district.
The facility, valued at several hundred thousand Ghana cedis, was made possible through the collaborative efforts of ROTRAC—a branch of the Rotary Club—alongside contributions from the traditional council and the parents of pupils at the school.
In her address, Hon. Ankrah emphasized that the commissioning aligns with President John Mahama’s educational infrastructure reset agenda, which aims to ensure equitable access to quality education nationwide. She noted the vital link between sanitation and development, stating, “Proper hygiene in schools is critical to the accelerated development of every community.”

The DCE further pledged her ongoing support for the school and called on its authorities to maintain the new facility to ensure its long-term impact.
Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Augusta Anim, expressed her heartfelt appreciation to ROTRAC and all other stakeholders for their financial and moral support. She also thanked Hon. Ankrah for her swift intervention in commissioning the project, highlighting its role in creating a more conducive learning environment for the pupils.
“Sanitation is not only a health issue but also a key component in the holistic development of our students,” Mrs. Anim stated. She appealed to additional stakeholders to come on board to support the school in other areas of need.
The commissioning ceremony saw the presence of the District Director of Education, Mr. David Akomea Asokwa, along with school staff, pupils, and other dignitaries. The event concluded with an official inspection of the facility, led by the DCE.
