The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly, in its quest to improve access to safe, reliable, and sustainable water supply services for all inhabitants of the district, continues to collaborate with stakeholders and partners for development. The District Assembly collaborated with Safe Water Network to provide safe water for the people of Adwumakasekese in 2018.
Due to increasing population and high demand for safe water, the District Assembly in February, 2024 once again collaborated with the Safe Water Network to expand safe water production and distribution systems in Adwumakasekese in line with SDG 6, Targets 6.1, 6.4 and 6.5.
The Sod-cutting ceremony was organized at the Adwumakasekese community on Tuesday, 14th May, 2024 to commence construction works at the Adwumakasekese Safe Water Station.
The scope of the work includes the construction of an overhead concrete platform with 80,000 litres storage capacity and extend the scope of the project to include supply of water from SWS to individual household.
In attendance at the sod-cutting ceremony were the Chiefs and people of Adwumakasekese, the District Planning Officers and other officials of the District Assembly, Assembly Member and Unit Committee members of the Adwumakasekese, Officials of Safe Water Network and JFC Engineering Ltd, the construction firm undertaking the construction.
The construction is expected to be completed within 6 months starting from May 2024.
