As part of efforts to create a comfortable and conducive learning environment for students in the Afigya Kwabre South District, the District Assembly led by Hon. Adu Poku Christian distributed 250 metallic framed dual desks to some schools in the district. These metallic desks were procured from the GETFUND to the Afigya Kwabre South Education Directorate.
Hon. Christian Adu Poku; the DCE did an official handing over of these desks to the Education Directorate in a short ceremony held on 4th May, 2023. Present at the ceremony were staff of the District Assembly, Staff of the Education Directorate and the media.
The DCE in his brief speech made it clear that, these interventions were being put in place to help improve upon education. He stated that, the supply of these desks is geared towards helping students gain some form of comfort and stability in the classroom environment for learning. He urged the School Management Committees to handle furniture with care and maintain them to help reduce the financial pressure on the Assembly.
Hon. Adu Poku used the opportunity to encourage both parents and teachers to do their best towards supporting their wards to achieve the best of academic performance as required by the district and country at large.
The beneficiaries’ schools were Mpobi R/C primary, Kodie Methodist Primary, Ntiri-Buoho D/A primary, Krono D/A Basic, Ebom-Bomfa D/A primary, Ejuratia Methodist primary, Mowire D/A primary, Oppoong Agyare D/A primary, Kodie Methodist JHS and Mposu D/A JHS.
Mr. David Akomeah Asokwa, the District Director of Education who received the desks on behalf of the beneficiary schools was thankful to the DCE as well as the Government for the support and promised to put it to good use.
