In fulfillment of development of the proposed Maase Market and wall fencing, a sod cutting ceremony was organized on Monday, 22nd of May 2023 at the forecourt of the Maase School.
The ceremony was graced with the presence of the DCE, Deputy Head of Admin, Head of works, Procurement Officer, Director of Education, Edwenasehene, Maasehene, Staff of the District Assembly, Teachers, Market Heads, Community members and the Media.
In an opening remarks, Nana Danso Abiam II, Maasehene expressed his sincere gratitude to the DCE and the Assembly for efforts to promote development and was happy his town had become a beneficiary of this projects.
Dwenasehene, Nana Okofo Barima Adubofuo Kwansiafram, also on his part applauded the DCE and the government for their developmental projects to help improve livelihood in the District and encouraged them to go on with their good work.
Hon. Christian Adu Poku in his address also expressed his joy for this important innovation at Maase. He explained that the Assembly together with Nananom has sought and obtained a PPP (Public Private Partnership) to aid these projects. He stated that the construction of the market stores will go a long way improve the conditions in the marketplace to help the market women sell in an excellent market and a conducive area thereby promoting socioeconomic development in the District.
The DCE touched on the construction of the wall around the school. He stated that the fence will make students and teachers feel comfortable to teach and learn. He also stated that the construction of the wall would help the Assembly and the Education directorate secure and protect the school lands to judiciously manage the land space available for future development.
Hon. Adu Poku also promised that many projects were underway to transform the District. He disclosed that after the construction of the market and the school wall, the Assembly will go on renovate the school, construct a library, ICT lab and a police station.
The DCE concluded by introducing the contractor responsible for these projects.
