A Monthly Progress Report on the upgrading of the Bouho–Sasa–Afrancho road and other critical access roads indicates steady advancement in the execution of the project. The Sasa–Afrancho stretch, which has been under construction for over 13 months since the commencement of the contract, is currently approximately 57 percent complete.

The project is being undertaken under the supervision of the Ghana Highways Authority and the Ministry of Roads and Highways, as part of government’s broader agenda to improve urban management and enhance basic infrastructure within municipal assemblies.

According to the report, the contract was awarded to Messrs. KNAPO Construction Limited at a total cost of GH₵100,035,925.24, funded by the Government of Ghana. The contract agreement was signed on September 11, 2024, and is expected to be executed within a 24-month period.

The scope of works includes the construction of drainage systems such as pipe and box culverts, earthworks involving cut-and-fill operations, formation of sub-base and base layers, bitumen surfacing, and other ancillary road works.

The project officially commenced on February 17, 2025, and is scheduled for completion on February 16, 2027, subject to any approved extensions of time. A defects liability period of 12 months has also been предусмотрed after completion to ensure the quality and durability of the works.

Spanning approximately 7 kilometres, the upgrading of the Bouho–Sasa–Afrancho road is expected to significantly improve transportation, reduce travel time, and boost socio-economic activities within the district and its surrounding communities.
