The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Pearl Patricia Ankrah, has led staff of the Assembly in a major clean-up exercise at Maase. The initiative aimed to enhance sanitation, beautify the environment, and improve public health in the district.
This exercise forms part of a broader government initiative to instill a culture of cleanliness and environmental responsibility among citizens. It also aligns with the national sanitation policy, which designates the first Saturday of every month for community clean-up activities.
Speaking after the exercise, Hon. Ankrah underscored the importance of maintaining a clean environment, noting that cleaner surroundings not only improve public health but also boost the district’s attractiveness and economic potential.
She reiterated the Mahama-led administration’s commitment to prioritizing sanitation and called on all stakeholders to support the initiative. “A cleaner, healthier district is possible through unity and sustained action,” she said, commending traditional leaders for their active participation, which she described as unprecedented.
Nana Appiagyei Odanka I, Maasehene and Otumfuo Boagyaahene, also lauded the government’s efforts. He described the sanitation exercise as a step in the right direction, emphasizing that national development begins with community involvement. He personally led community members in the clean-up and encouraged them to embrace initiatives that transform lives.
