On Wednesday 25th September, 2024 the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development had an in-house training for its staffs. The Head of the Department, Mr Cheslyn Nutsugah gave an opening remark and urged all staffs of the department to take the training serious since is going to be part of our daily activities. The main objective of this in service training was to enlighten the staffs on the update on the software that has been designed by UNICEF in handling cases that is the social welfare management information system (SWMIS) and also reporting on the CHILD PROTECTION SYSTEM.
The Training started at 9:30 am with an opening prayer by Madam Rahinatu Abdulai one of the staff and continued by Officer Kennedy Asamoah with introduction of swmis to the staff.
A detailed presentation on how a staff can handle the system was given and also took the team through the six step in handling cases when been brought to the office or cases is been identified. The presentation was very interactive as staffs were engaged and also contributed.
Again, Madam Rahinatu also continued with presentation on how to enter forms when client visit the office or a case is identified. As a social worker you should first collect the information of the person reporting the case and then listen to the case the person has brought to the office for assistance. After that, then you identify the primary concern of the case been brought which will also let you know either the case been high, medium or Low which may need immediate action to be taken. .
Secondly, Madam Cynthia and Officer Godfred took as through Child Protection where we enter the information gathered during sensitizations or engagements with students and community members. This involve taking pictures of the students or community members met showing the UNICEF flashcards which helps explain the topic very well to the people. Again, one must also know the type of Audience to meet and also the kind of topic to be treated.
Lastly, Mr Dickson Yankera the District Human Resource Manager thank the head of the department of social welfare for such programme and also thank all staffs of the department for the cooperation. He again, urge all the staffs to take it serious since is going help us much in everywhere we go. Mr Cheslyn thank the staffs for their cooperation and also urge us all to start practicing it since is a daily activity.
