The Chief of Heman in the Afigya Kwabre South district of Ashanti Region, Nana Apau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan, has made a strong demand on the District Chief Executive, Hon.Christian Adu Poku, to explain the reasons for the prolonged delay in the re-construction of the deplorable roads connecting Heman and other communities in his domain, as well as when they will be completed.
Feeling concerned about the allegedly stalled project, the Chief pointed out that JOSHOB, the contracting firm, appears to have abandoned it after grading a few sections, with no evidence of his return to finish it.
Nana Sanwoansan requested to officially invite the DCE to his palace on Friday, January 19, 2024, to express his worries over the project’s execution. He stated that a portion of the road leading to his palace is deplorable, with its vast dusty nature creating discomfort among the residents of the afflicted region. He revealed that the terrible roads had already taken nine lives since last year, including a doctor and a nurse, in addition to those with long-term injuries.
Nana in his submission, indicated the inhalation of dust by the inhabitants has had a great toll on their health with its accompanying hazards citing respiratory diseases particularly, among the aged.
In his response, Hon Adu Poku pointed out that the Heman road project has not been abandoned by the contractor as is being speculated. According to him, at the time of meeting with the Chief and his elders, the contractor was at the site and work was in progress.
He assured Nana and the entire community that the Heman road would be asphalted and completed by the end of March this year in the next few months. He, however, called for some restraints among the citizens assuring them of the completion of all ongoing projects in the area.
The DCE and his management team had earlier paid a working visit to Adubinso-Kese to showcase the local plan(layout) of the community to its citizens for its immediate implementation.
