The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in collaboration with Complementary Education Agency organized a 3 days skills training for Person with Disabilities (PWDs) to empower them in their livelihood to support themselves.
The program was held at Kodie Methodist Auditorium on the 25th to 27th of January,2023. In all twenty participants and five Caretakers drawn from the District attended the training which was aimed at equipping them with basic skills
The Director of Social Welfare and Community Development Mr Cheslyn Natsugah in his address urged the participants to take the training seriously and apply it whenever the need arises. He also added that, the training was part of the District Common Fund allocated to the PWDs. He cautioned the participants not to misuse the startup capital given to them but to use it for it the purpose for which it was given to them.






The resource person Madam Cynthia Ntow took the participants through the preparation of some household products like liquid soap, Antiseptics, bar soap and power zone(thick bleach). The trainees were engaged throughout every step of the processes to ensure that they get a feel of the training and also know how the products are made by themselves.
The Deputy Director, Madam Lois Ohene Ayisi who came to represent the District Coordinating Director also encouraged the participants to take the skills they have acquired from the training judiciously. She also took the opportunity to advice them to establish businesses of their own through the training.
The District Development Planning Officer Mr Ebenezer Quame and Madam Lois Ohene Ayisi inspected all the products exhibited by the PWDs. Certificates were issued to all the PWDs who participated in the three days training.
