On 19th December, 2022 the Social Welfare and Community Development in the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly disbursed a total amount of GH 30,642 to persons with disabilities in the District, at the forecourt of the Assembly. The DCD, Mr. Andrew’s Mensah on behalf of the DCE stated that, the monies are being given to persons with disabilities not because of the Christmas season but rather to improve their livelihood.
He also added that, there are 700 physically challenged persons in the District so each and everyone that receives the money should make good use of it. He also encouraged them to inform persons with disability who have not yet registered with the Assembly through the Social Welfare Department to do so to enable them also to benefit from the fund.
A total of 20 persons with various forms of disabilities benefited from this gesture.
