It was a day packed with shows of national pride and heritage, when the district joined the rest of nation to celebrate Ghana’s 65th independence anniversary with some selected schools from the district at a ceremony held at the Atimatim School Park.
Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive, Hon. Adu Poku Christian impressed upon Citizens for a United front with a common goal towards accelerated national development.
He bemoaned the stagnation or retrogressive state of Ghana after obtaining independence the same period with South Korea and Malaysia with their strides in development that cannot be equaled by Ghana.
He frowned on the hypocritical attitude of some Ghanaians and enjoined everyone to observe the lyrics of the national anthem as a way forward adding, there is no other place than Ghana and called on the citizenry to rally behind the government to achieve it’s developmental goals.
There was also presentation of awards to best performing schools. Atimatim D/A JHS ‘A’ was adjudged the best performing school at the end of the event and they took away a set of Jerseys, a certificate and a football as their prize.
