The President’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) for the Afigya Kwabre South , Pearl Patricia Ankrah made history to have become the first woman to be officially confirmed as the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the district.
The confirmation took place on Tuesday, May 13,2025 at the Methodist Church auditorium at Kodie, the district capital. She secured 36 ‘Yes’ votes out of a total of 39 ballots cast surpassing the two-thirds threshold required.

Earlier, a new Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Gyasi Danso had been elected and sworn in by the district Circuit Court judge, Her Ladyship Magdelene Thompson to supervise the event, polling 38’Yes’ out of 39 votes cast.

Patricia Ankrah’s overwhelming confirmation was met with celebrations from all who were in the auditorium. The event was also attended by executive members of the two major parties in the district, traditional leaders and the Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Damata Ama Appianimaa Salam.

In her acceptance speech, the DCE-elect expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in her and called for a united front and setting good reputation as hallmark for total development adding, a district seeking development cannot succeed with a divisive front. She emphasized that inclusive leadership and collective ideas are essential tools for the progress of the district.
Hon, Ankrah noted her endorsement has opened a new chapter in the political history of the district, stressing that the district can boast of a female MP, female DCE and a female Coordinating Director. She pledged to push the President’s resetting agenda towards the district’s development.
The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon. Damata Ama Appianimaa Salam commended the Assembly members for the overwhelming endorsement pointing out that it was a wake-up call for the women in the district to strife to attain the role of able leadership as they have become pacesetters.
She called for fair representation and equity urging men to continue to support and encourage women as men serve as women’s source of motivation.
