On 30th January 2026, the Department organized a sensitization programme at Buoho Market to educate the public on child neglect and child abuse in response to the increasing number of cases within the district. Participants were educated on the forms, causes, and consequences of child neglect and abuse, as well as the legal responsibilities of parents and guardians. The facilitators emphasized that children should not be engaged in hazardous work, excessive hawking, or activities that interfere with their education and development. During the interactive session, concerns about children assisting their parents with trading were addressed, with the clarification that such assistance should be occasional and must not compromise the child’s welfare or schooling. The programme concluded with a call on parents, guardians, and community members to work together to protect the rights, safety, and well-being of children. A total of 135 participants (72 females and 63 males) attended the programme.<\/p>\n
