The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly, on 1st June 2026<\/strong>, officially cut the sod for the construction of a 24-hour market<\/strong> at Aboabogya. The ceremony was attended by the District Chief Executive (DCE), staff of the Assembly, community leaders, and residents.<\/p>\n

The project forms part of a government initiative aimed at promoting economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing local development across the country.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, the District Chief Executive underscored the significance of the project and commended the Government for its commitment to expanding economic opportunities through strategic infrastructure development. She noted that the 24-hour market is expected to stimulate commercial activities, improve livelihoods, create jobs, and contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the district.<\/p>\n

The DCE assured residents that funding for the project had been secured and announced that construction is expected to be completed within 24 months<\/strong>. She further stated that the market would position Aboabogya as a major commercial centre, attract increased business activities, and support the growth of local enterprises within the district.<\/p>\n

The Project Consultant also briefed the gathering on the scope of the project, indicating that construction would commence immediately and be completed within the stipulated 24-month period.<\/p>\n

According to the consultant, the market is being designed as a modern commercial facility equipped with essential amenities to support efficient market operations. These include trading stalls, restaurants, a daycare centre, a women’s bank, and other supporting facilities. The consultant added that the market would be easily accessible and is expected to enhance trade, create employment opportunities, and strengthen economic activities within the district.<\/p>\n

The sod-cutting ceremony marked the official commencement of a transformative infrastructure project that is expected to expand business opportunities, improve market accessibility, and support sustainable economic growth in the Afigya Kwabre South District.<\/p>\n
