The The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources Hon. Mireku Duker has paid a working visit to Afigya Kwabre South District to acquaint himself with the activities of the Quarry Industries on 10th March,2022.<\/p>\n

Accompanied by the Chief Executive for the District, Hon. Christian Adu Poku and the Chairman of the Quarry Industries Mr Adu Tutu Gyamfi. The Minister visited a number of Quarry sites including Brosur Quarry, KK Quarry, Modern Granite, Adututu Quarry and Kas Quarry sites to see things for himself and the extent of encroachment as a threat to the Quarry Industries and the way forward.<\/p>\n

In a press briefing at the end of the visit, Hon. Mireku Duker lauded the the efforts and vision of the DCE and the Assembly for the establishment of the Quarry Development Fund describing it as a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n

The Chairman of the Quarry Industries Mr Adu Tutu in his submission underscored the importance of the Quarry Industries in the development of a nation and pointed out that, the setting up of the Quarry Fund was not individual parochial interest but for the welfare of the people in the district.<\/p>\n

He noted that, from the accrued funds, schools, hospitals churches, mosques, mechanized borehole and other infrastructural development could be carried out. Sharing his long time experience in the industry, the chairman disclosed that there were no buildings at any Quarry site in Ashanti region some few decades ago, pointing out that<\/p>\n

rocks are not nomads to move from one place to another, it is rather people who put up buildings on such rocks.<\/p>\n

He called on the Minister to put measures in place to address the menace of encroachment in the area.<\/p>\n

For his part, Hon. APC described the encroachment situation at the Quarry sites as very alarming which does not serve in the interest of the district.<\/p>\n

The Quarry Fund was launched in December 2019 at the initiative of the Assembly meant to utilize the generated income for developmental projects in the district.<\/p>\n
