{"id":4723,"date":"2026-03-13T13:37:39","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T13:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aksda.gov.gh\/?p=4723"},"modified":"2026-04-01T13:42:54","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T13:42:54","slug":"aksda-empowers-pwds-through-skills-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/aksda.gov.gh\/index.php\/2026\/03\/13\/aksda-empowers-pwds-through-skills-training\/","title":{"rendered":"AKSDA EMPOWERS PWDs THROUGH SKILLS TRAINING"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"61\" data-end=\"299\">The Social Welfare and Community Development Department of the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly organized a two-day skills training programme for persons living with disabilities on 10th and 11th March 2026 at Kodie Methodist Church.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"301\" data-end=\"659\">The training aimed to equip beneficiaries with vocational skills to help them establish their own businesses and become self-reliant. The programme was led by the District Director of Social Welfare, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Cheslyn Nutsugah<\/span><\/span>, who explained that the initiative is part of efforts to economically empower persons with disabilities in the district.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"1008\">The training featured two main practical sessions: bead making and soap making. Participants were trained in producing items such as liquid soap, antiseptics, parazon, and bar soap. The bead-making session was facilitated by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Kate Siakwa<\/span><\/span>, while the soap-making session was handled by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Cynthia Ntow<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1010\" data-end=\"1215\">In his remarks, Mr. Nutsugah urged participants to take the training seriously, emphasizing that the skills acquired could help them generate income, reduce dependency, and improve their living conditions.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1217\" data-end=\"1372\">Participants expressed appreciation to the Social Welfare Department for the initiative, describing it as a significant step toward financial independence.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1374\" data-end=\"1518\">The programme forms part of the district\u2019s broader commitment to
