DCE Intensifies Engagement with Traditional Leaders on Development Projects in Kodie Area Council

As part of the government’s resetting agenda for economic transformation and national development, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Patricia Pearl Ankrah, has intensified consultations with traditional leaders and communities across the district in recent weeks. These engagements form part of a broader initiative to outline and discuss precedent development projects.

Hon. Ankrah met with Kodie traditional leaders and members of the community at the Methodist Church auditorium, where she highlighted the Assembly’s priority development initiatives. Key focus areas included:

  • Road reshaping works

  • Construction of community centres

  • Extension of electricity supply

  • Provision of streetlights

  • Installation of mechanised boreholes

She underscored the need for close collaboration between Assembly Members and traditional leaders (Nananom) to ensure the smooth implementation of these projects.

The DCE also addressed pressing concerns such as boundary disputes within the district, the collection of legitimate tomb fees by both the Assembly and traditional leaders, and the challenge of low internally generated funds (IGF). She lamented that despite the district comprising about sixty-three communities, IGF mobilisation remained inadequate—hindering key development projects. Hon. Ankrah, therefore, called for strengthened cooperation from traditional authorities to improve revenue generation.

Reaffirming her open-door policy, she pledged her readiness to attend community durbars organised by traditional authorities in order to listen to citizens’ concerns and collectively chart a path for development.

Prior to the Kodie engagement, Hon. Ankrah and her team had paid courtesy visits to traditional leaders at Apagya, Aduman, and Aduamoa as part of her district-wide appreciation and consultation tour. She appealed to citizens to embrace the Assembly’s flagship initiatives aimed at transforming the district.

During a question-and-answer session, the District Development Planning Officer echoed the call for citizens to comply with sanitation regulations, including the mandatory provision of household toilet facilities.
