Parents Urged to Prioritise Children’s Education

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Pearl Patricia Ankrah, has called on parents to give top priority to their children’s education as a critical investment in shaping their future and building responsible citizens.

Speaking at the maiden graduation ceremony of Adumakaasekese Methodist Primary “A”, held at the Methodist School Park, the DCE emphasised that quality education is a shared responsibility requiring the active involvement of parents, teachers, and the community.

“Parents must provide their children with basic educational materials and avoid excessive spending on social events such as funerals,” Hon. Ankrah stated. “These provisions improve children’s motivation, punctuality, and attendance, which ultimately reflect in their academic performance.”

She further advised pupils to respect and honour their parents and teachers, in line with biblical teachings, to ensure long and purposeful lives.

The event celebrated the promotion of Kindergarten pupils to Primary level and Primary pupils advancing to Junior High School. It was well-attended by traditional leaders, educators, and community members.

Representing the Adumakaasehene, the Krontihene of Adumakaase, Nana Yeboh Mensah, praised the school for organizing a successful event that highlighted the talents of the pupils. He noted that in his 41 years as a traditional leader and former teacher, he had never witnessed such an impressive school celebration.

The Headmaster, Mr. Stephen Adusei, who spoke on the theme “Invest in Your Children for Future Benefits,” used the occasion to outline key challenges facing the school. These include the lack of computers, poor toilet facilities, and the need for urgent renovation of school buildings.

Mr. Adusei appealed to government agencies, private organisations, and benevolent individuals to support the school in addressing these pressing needs to create a more conducive learning environment.

The ceremony was marked by cultural displays and performances that underscored the pupils’ potential and the school’s commitment to holistic education.
