HEMANG HOLDS MAIDEN KWABRE MPETEBIE-FUA FESTIVAL

The Afigya kwabre South District Assembly week-long celebration of “Kwabre Mpetebie-fua” festival reached its climax with a Grand Durbar held at Hemang, Saturday 29th October, 2022 amidst pomp and pageantry with the display of rich tradition and culture by the Chiefs and their entourage to herald the maiden edition of the event. Themed “Mobilizing Local Resources For Socio Economic Development “. The festival is purposely meant to foster unity among kwabre indigenes at home and in the diaspora to facilitate the development of the communities.

Prominent and dignitaries in attendance included Nana Dr. Appau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan of Hemang, the host community, Nana Boakye Yam Ababio of Nkwantakese, Nana Akwaboah of Ankaase, the MP for the District, Hon. William Owuraku Aidoo, the DCE for Afigya kwabre North, Hon. Karikari Achamfuor and the MCE for Kwabre East, Hon. Opoku Agyeman Bonsu, among others.

Addressing the gathering, the DCE, Hon. Christian Adu-Poku A.K.A Adwumawura, while acknowledging the relevance of the event, averted the establishment of the College of Health to be sited at Brofoyedu so as to train and equip the youth in the Health needs of the people in the area and the nation at large. He said with collective collaboration with the traditional leaders and the people, the objective of the College could be achieved and also serve as monuments for future generation.

Delivering his Speech, Nana Dr. Appau Wiafe Ababio Sanwoansan reiterated the needs for all Kwabre citizens to come together for the much anticipated development citing the College of Health as a case in point.

For his part, the Nkwantakese Hene, Nana Boakye Yam Ababio disclosed the Health Institution was named after a very high profile personality, Barimah Karikari, the late Abusuapanin of the Asantehene with it’s related significance to the Health facility . He restarted the essence of uniting the people to build a strong community.

For his part Hon. Owuraku Aidoo commended the DCE for the laudable initiative. He also appealed to Ghanaians to put up with the government in the face of the economic crunch describing it as worldwide adding that, with the measures being put in place by the government, there would be a wind of changes
