The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Christian Adu-Poku has commissioned an Ultra Modern Market Complex at Kodie on 17th March, 2022 at Kodie, the District capital to boost commercial activities in the area and its environs.
The market complex costing millions of cedis has one thousand shops and stalls, equipped with modern facilities including toilet and car parks among others. The DCE was accompanied by Heads of Department, Assembly woman, Unit Committee Members and the Chief of Kodie, Nana Yaw Barimah Peprah. Addressing the jubilant traders, Hon APC stated that the new complex has relieved the past glory, when Kodie was known to be the trading hub in the district. He appealed to the house owners for the beautification of the community by restructuring the old infrastructures along side the major road with stores as obtained in other urban towns to befit the status of the district capital. The DCE cautioned them against the reckless road crossing and asked them to avoid displaying their wares beyond the frontage of the stores as defaulters would be penalized. He urged them to apply the culture if maintenance of the facility and declared ” Thursday to be observed as Market Day”.
For his part, Nana Yae Barimah Peprah (II) applauded the DCE and the Assembly for upgrading the market and hoped Kodie would be commercial centre in the district and beyond.
Earlier, Hon APC held a Town Hall meeting with chief and people of Kodie and its environs at Kodie Methodist Church to address their challenges.
