The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly has honoured 14 Farmers for their tremendous work in Agribusiness Farming at the 37th Farmers’ Day Celebration that took place at the Methodist School Park in Adumakasekese.
A 45 year old Dr.Baffour Agyemang of Mpobi was awarded the Best Farmer in the District. He took home 6 Cutlasses, 1 Tricycle, 2 Knapsack sprayers and a double decker fridge as his prize.
He owns 7.5 acres of cocoa, 2 acres of oil palm, 1.5 acres of rice, and 4,500 layers of poultry.
The Best Female Farmer went to 47 years old Mrs Cecelia Benyade and the Best Youth Farmer went to Hon. Rexford Mintah, who is a teacher, Nabco Coordinator for the District and Assemblyman for Adumakasekese.
This year Farmers’ Day Celebration was under the theme ” Planting for food and jobs ( Consolidating Food Systems in Ghana) “
