As part of ongoing stakeholder engagements across the district, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Pearl Patricia Ankrah, led a high-level delegation from the Assembly to meet with traditional authorities and community members within the Yamoa Ponko Area Council. The visit aimed to strengthen relationships and facilitate dialogue around the prioritisation of projects and the formulation of the district’s medium-term development plan.
The DCE and her team visited several communities, including Ankaase, Mpobi, Abrade, and Mami, where they held extensive discussions with traditional leaders and elders. The engagements provided an opportunity for the DCE to listen to the concerns, aspirations, and ideas of the chiefs and their people, and to explore collaborative solutions for the district’s development challenges.
Presenting the highlights of the medium-term development plan, the District Development Planning Officer acknowledged that some projects remain uncompleted due to insufficient government funding. However, he assured the communities that the Assembly would provide support, particularly upon the release of the District Assemblies Common Fund. He noted that a number of prioritised projects have been earmarked for initiation, while others are scheduled for completion.
The beneficiary communities include Ankaase East and West, Mpobi, Ejuratia/Mami, Hemang, and Abrade. Proposed and ongoing projects span a range of sectors, including:
-
Reshaping of roads
-
Renovation and completion of schools
-
Construction of markets
-
Extension of electricity
-
Construction of CHPS compounds
-
Provision of boreholes, among others
The traditional authorities, including Ankaase Dikro, Nana Kwadwo Akwaboah; Abrade Queen Mother, Nana Abrafi Mansa; and Mamihene, Nana Baffour Gyasi, expressed their appreciation for the DCE’s proactive approach. They also highlighted pressing challenges within their communities and commended the DCE for her bold leadership, while praying for a successful and unified administration.
Hon. Godwin Owusu Ampomah, Assembly Member for Hemang, praised Hon. Ankrah’s vision, stating that with the implementation of the proposed projects, the district stands to see significant transformation. Similarly, Hon. Harrison Frimpong, Assembly Member for Ankaase East, applauded her for her collaborative spirit and commitment to progress, describing her as “a woman of substance.” He expressed hope that under her leadership, the district would experience accelerated development.
In her closing remarks, Hon. Pearl Ankrah appealed to affluent indigenes and development partners from the district to support the Assembly’s efforts to realise its development agenda. She reaffirmed her commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development for the people of Afigya Kwabre South.
