COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT IN ADUMAKAASEKESE AREA COUNCIL

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Pearl Patricia Ankrah, has embarked on a community needs assessment exercise as part of the District Medium Term Development Plan. The exercise began with courtesy visits to traditional authorities at Aboabogya and Adumakasekese, aimed at expressing appreciation for their support during her nomination and confirmation, as well as to identify pressing community needs.

Engagement at Aboabogya

The DCE’s first stop was at the Palace of Aboabogya, where she met with Nana Wiafe Akenten Amoah II and his elders. The District Development Planning Officer emphasized the importance of collaboration with traditional authorities to ensure the success of the district’s development agenda. He noted that the DCE’s visit was a crucial step in aligning with local leadership for effective governance.

In his remarks, Nana Wiafe Akenten Amoah II stressed the need to protect communal lands and expressed concern over the unregulated siting of kiosks and containers. He called for proactive measures to safeguard the future of the community.

In response, Hon. Ankrah expressed her gratitude for the support and prayers of the traditional council and requested continued spiritual and moral backing. She reiterated her commitment to tackling key challenges and driving development across the district.

Engagement at Adumakasekese

A similar engagement took place at the Palace of Adumakasekese, where the DCE met with Nana Asenso Kuffuor Ababio. Hon. Ankrah reiterated her focus on improving infrastructure and basic services to foster accelerated development. She again sought the support and prayers of traditional leaders to enable her administration to deliver effectively.

Community Forum

Following the courtesy visits, a community forum was held at the Adumakasekese Methodist Church auditorium, where residents had the opportunity to voice their concerns and suggestions. Key prioritized projects discussed during the forum included:

  • Construction of a 6-unit classroom block

  • Evacuation of refuse

  • Provision of a skip container

  • Reshaping of town roads

  • Extension of electricity

The DCE and the District Coordinating Director addressed questions from the community, providing clarifications and assurances on planned interventions.

The DCE’s visit and the subsequent needs assessment have laid the groundwork for stronger collaboration between the District Assembly and traditional authorities. This engagement is expected to enhance participatory governance, ensure more responsive planning, and build a solid foundation for accelerated and inclusive development in the Adumakaasekese Area Council and beyond.
