The Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly has launched “KWABRE WEST MPETEBIE FESTIVAL ” in close collaboration with Traditional leaders in the District designed to forge a united front among the indigenes for accelerated development in the area.

The ceremony was held at the Kodie Methodist Church with the theme “Mobilizing Local Resources for Social Economic Development”, which will be the source for more structured and formalized way to bring together all Kwabre West Citizens in the country and the diaspora to facilitate the District growth.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Adu Poku Christian. affectionately called Adwumawura used the occasion to highlight on some governmental projects both implemented and underway in the District which include TVET Institute at Hemang, Court Building with Bungalow at Kodie, 16 Unit Classroom Block at Buoho, whiles a 15 Acre land has been offered by the Chief of Atrama, Nana Boakye Yiadom Karikari for the construction of the Agenda 111 Hospital Project.

He urged the indigenes not to depend always on the Central Government for the execution of projects in the area hence the need to be united to fight for a common goal.
The special guest of Honour, Nana Boakye Yam Ababio, Nkwantakese Hene reiterated, the District lacks behind in developmental projects and declared it was time all and sundry took their destiny into their hands for a change. He disclosed that he was part of decision making body during the tenure of former DCE Oppong Kyekyeku to initiate the development agenda for the District but unfortunately it could not see the light of day.
He also bemoaned the situation where citizens in the diaspora could not trace back to their roots to contribute their quota to develop the district.
Nkwantakese Hene believed that with the District Assembly support, the purpose of the Mpetebie-Fua festival could be achieved.

Other speakers included Otumfuo Mawerehene, Baffour Dr. Osei Hyiaman, Nana Brentuo Agyei, Fosu Twitwiakwa 2 and the MP for the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency, Hon. William Owuraku Aidoo.
